Runes are small marked stones or wooden pieces used for self-knowledge and help. The carvings on the Runes are the alphabet of the ancient northern European tribes, Celts, Vikings and ancient Germans. Of all of the tools used for diving the future, runes are considered to be the most magical.
The word "rune" means secret, mystery, or whisper. In fact, the original meanings were never written down but were passed through oral history. Numerous historical and literary accounts attribute qualities of magic, protection, healing and meditation to runes. The mythological Scandinavian god Odin’s horse was said to have runes carved into his teeth, while the famous author J.R.R. Tolkien introduces his readers to runes in "The Hobbit." Obviously there are more practical uses for runes, but we wanted to share these fun factoids with you anyway.
